Over the Moon for Boogie: New Book and Skate Deck @ Upper Playground

Over the Moon for Boogie: New Book and Skate Deck @ Upper Playground
Born in Belgrade Serbia, street photographer Boogie possesses a rare talent for documenting the human condition. His black and white photographs capture the character and the inhabitants of some of the most tumultuous cities in the world.
Traditionally photojournalism focuses more on content–recording a moment or an event–and less upon formal concerns. However, Boogie gracefully integrates both a documentarian’s eye with a finely honed artistic sensibility. Many of his images are at once deeply poignant, and totally unsettling.
Boogie’s work has taken him from Serbia, to Cuba and throughout South America. In his new book, Sao Paulo, he features his remarkable impressions from one of Brazil’s poorest and most troubled urban metropolises. Boogie has also produced a new skate deck featuring his photography.
The deck is available for $90 and can be purchased here: UP
The book Sao Paulo retails for $20. You can pick up a copy here: UP
All products are also available at Upper Playground retail stores.
Video footage of the new book can be found here: YouTube

Growing Pains 08 Summer Collection
Growing Pains Summer Collection
Here is a first look at Eric Bailey’s Growing Pains ‘08 Summer Collection and his artwork is just sick. I guess when you have skills in painting why not share your minds and thought with the word and get them on a shirts. What I love about Growing Pain is that Eric hand draw all his designs. This is a way to stay original and people like Eric keeps it real for the Streetwear scene. Eric is known for his work with Nike, Converse, Shalom, Cerbae and many more.
Nike Olympic Mascot Pack
The Olympics are around the corner and Nike plans on dropping these to commemorate the games this summer. Each character represents one of the five rings and the mascot are animals that are very popular in China’s culture, such as the panda.
In the end of things, not so much sure if i’m really feeling these too much, but I’ll take half of them for sure. Hopefully Team USA woops some ass that’s all I really care about.
Louis Vuitton and Kanye West
Seems like Kanye gots his hands in everything these days that has to do with fashion. First its Nike and now LV. The word around the internet is Kanye is working with LV to produce a line of Men’s footwear designed and inspired by Kanye himself. LV is making moves itself first they were having Pharrell design glasses and jewelry. Now they got Kanye doing shoes. Next thing you know they’ll have Lil Wayne designing bags. No word yet on the release of Kanye’s LV kicks so far.

Brand Feature: Shalom and Growing Pains
Over the weekend, we went to visit our friends from Shalom and Growing Pains. Shalom has been laying low for a minute now and it is time to release some major heat that will start with their collaboration with One Love Boards. You will get more details in the next post so be sure to read that! I was honor to get a sneak peak of what Jacob has been working on and I promise you that he is going to make a lot of noise later this year and Spring 09. From cut and sew, design and quality, Jacob is set to show people why Shalom is the business.
I also got a chance to check out Growing Pain’s Eric Bailey paintings and they are super tight. I was not able to get a shot in because his work will debut in the next couple weeks but pictures from my camera wont give its justice. We will also be previewing Growing Pain’s Summer line up later today so stay tune.
Be sure to “click read more” to see some pieces from Eric Bailey’s previous projects and how this man is genius. Thanks Shalom and Growing Pains for letting us crash your office and sponsoring our party (THE W3ST IS COMING !). It was good talking to you Jacob and see you at the party…
